How to check and claim your Philips trimmer warranty in India (2026)
Philips trimmers and shavers carry a 2-year warranty in India, and some models get more if registered within 90 days. How to check, register and claim it.
Product7 — Track products you own. Claim warranties in one click.
A Philips trimmer is a gadget you pick up every few days, often for years. So when it stops holding a charge, the motor starts dragging, or it won’t switch on at all, the next step is usually a search for “philips trimmer warranty claim”. The honest answer is short. But Philips has one rule that is easy to miss, and it applies in the first three months, not the last. This is the working guide.
The most important fact up front: Philips’ standard warranty on men’s trimmers and shavers in India is 24 months from the date of purchase. Some products qualify for a free extension, but only if you register them within 90 days of buying. The warranty covers defects in a product used as the manual describes, and Philips requires a valid proof of purchase, so it is worth something only if you still have the invoice. Everything else follows from those two facts.
How to check your Philips trimmer warranty status
Most “philips warranty check” searches assume a lookup exists where you enter a serial number and Philips shows the months you have left. Philips India’s warranty and support pages don’t offer one.
What actually decides your status is the date on your invoice, plus the right term. So the practical check is:
- Find your invoice: the Amazon or Flipkart order, the order from whichever online store you used, or the shop bill.
- Read the purchase date.
- Add 24 months. If you registered the product within 90 days, use the term in your registration confirmation email instead.
- If today falls inside that window and the fault is a genuine defect, you have a claim.
To find the numbers Philips will ask for, look at the back of the trimmer. Philips’ India FAQ says the model and serial numbers are printed there. The model number is two letters and four digits, such as BT3325.
If you registered, Philips sends a confirmation email with the details of your extended warranty. Philips asks you to keep that email safe along with the proof of purchase, because together they are the proof of the extension. So keep both.
This is why the invoice matters so much. There is no lookup to fall back on. Your proof of cover is a bill (or a PDF in an inbox) that you have to produce when asked.
Philips warranty period for trimmers and shavers
Philips’ published warranty table for personal care in India is short. The rows that matter here:
- Men’s shaving and grooming: 24 months. This covers the men’s range Philips India sells: electric shavers, OneBlade, beard trimmers, all-in-one trimmers, hair clippers, body groomers and nose trimmers.
- Women’s beauty: 24 months.
- Toothbrush and shaving replacement heads, personal care accessories, and bags and gift sets: no warranty.
The 90-day registration window is the hinge. Philips says some personal-care products are eligible for a discretionary, free extended warranty if you register them in your My Philips account within 90 days of purchase. You find out whether your model qualifies by registering it. Philips’ India FAQ gives the steps, and says to do them on a laptop or desktop:
- Create a My Philips account and verify your email from the activation link.
- Log in and click Register product.
- Find your model with the search bar.
- Enter the serial digits from the back of the trimmer.
- Fill in the details and select Register. Philips also says to tick the promotional communication box to receive the extension details.
Two caveats. First, the extension isn’t automatic, and not every model qualifies. Don’t assume your trimmer got extra years until the confirmation email says so. Second, the warranty covers defects only. It isn’t an accidental-damage plan, and it doesn’t cover parts that wear out by design. Blades, foils, combs and trimming elements are consumables in Philips’ terms. So a blade that has gone blunt from normal use is a replacement purchase, not a claim.
So the rule is simple: register within 90 days, keep the confirmation email, and treat your own invoice and warranty card as the authority for your unit. Don’t rely on a blog or a forum post.
How to claim your Philips trimmer warranty, step by step
Philips India’s support site points you to two places for a personal-care claim: its support contact page and its network of authorised service centres.
- Find your invoice and warranty card. Philips says you claim with the product invoice or bill and the warranty card, and that a valid proof of purchase is required. Note the model and serial numbers from the back of the trimmer.
- Confirm you are inside the window. That means 24 months from purchase, or the extended term in your registration email. Philips services a product free when you report the defect during the warranty period, so don’t wait until the last week.
- Try the troubleshooting first. Philips asks you to check the user manual and its online FAQs and troubleshooting before booking service, because many problems can be fixed at home.
- Contact Philips or find a service centre. On
philips.co.in, open Support contact and choose Personal care. Its Contact us option opens an online chat. Or use the Find a service center locator atphilips.co.in/c-s/support/service-locator, filter by Personal care, state and city, and call the service point before you visit, as Philips advises. Support hours are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 9pm, and Sunday, 9am to 6pm, excluding national holidays. - Hand over the unit with your proof. Bring the invoice, the warranty card and, if you registered, the confirmation email. Keep the serial number readable, and describe the fault specifically: “stops after two minutes on full charge” beats “not working”.
- Get it repaired or exchanged. Philips picks the service option, either a repair or an exchange, depending on the product and the defect. A repaired or replacement unit does not get a new warranty, so the original expiry date still applies.
If you are outside the warranty, the repair is paid. For out-of-warranty charges, Philips’ India FAQ links to a service rate card. It lists service charges for shavers and trimmers of Rs 100 at the workshop and Rs 150 for onsite or pick-up service, before GST, and says imported and tampered products are charged double. It also says an estimate is given on request, and that 25% of the labour charge applies if you don’t approve the estimate. The card is several years old, so treat those figures as a guide and confirm the current charge with the service centre before you approve anything.
That is the whole flow. The hard part is almost never the steps. It’s step 1.
Common reasons Philips warranty claims fail
Most rejected claims aren’t rejected because Philips is difficult. They hit one of the exclusions written into its personal care warranty terms. The big ones:
- No valid proof of purchase. Philips requires one, and it voids cover if the proof of purchase has been altered, defaced or made illegible. A lost invoice usually means a lost claim.
- Worn blades, heads and accessories. Normal wear of blades, shaving heads, foils, trimming elements and combs is excluded. Replacement heads and personal care accessories carry no warranty at all.
- Drops and physical damage. Damage from an accident, impact or a drop is excluded, as is cosmetic damage such as scratches or dents that doesn’t affect performance.
- Water and liquid damage. Philips excludes damage from water and from liquids or moisture outside the product’s specifications, with a carve-out where the user manual expressly says the product may be rinsed. So even a washable trimmer is covered only for the use its manual describes.
- An altered or missing serial number. If the model number, serial number or production date code on the product has been altered, removed or made illegible, the warranty doesn’t apply. Don’t scrape the label off the back.
- Unauthorised repair, chargers or parts. If anyone Philips hasn’t authorised has opened, repaired or modified the trimmer, cover is void. The same goes for damage caused by chargers, adapters, batteries or spare parts Philips doesn’t approve or recommend. A cheap local fix today can cost you the warranty.
- Refurbished, second-hand, clearance or imported stock. Products bought refurbished, second-hand, as clearance stock or on another non-standard warranty basis are excluded. So is a product that wasn’t designed or approved for use in India, which can happen with a trimmer bought abroad.
- Misuse and voltage. Commercial use, use against the manual’s instructions, abnormal voltage or power fluctuations, and fire or natural disasters all fall outside the cover.
Read that list once and the pattern is clear: the warranty protects you against the factory getting it wrong, not against the world happening to the trimmer. Keep the device intact, keep the serial readable, and keep the invoice.
The real problem: you’ll lose the invoice before it breaks
Look at how many of the failure modes above come back to paperwork. Philips’ warranty is a bet that, two years or more after you bought it, you can still produce the exact invoice for a trimmer you probably bought online between two other orders. If you want the extension, you also need to have registered it within 90 days and kept the email.
It’s an easy bet to lose, and the 90-day rule makes it harder. The registration window closes in the first three months, long before anything breaks, at a point when nobody is thinking about warranties. Miss it and you never learn what the extension would have been. Register it and you now have two documents to keep: the invoice and the confirmation email. Nobody reminds you the day before the cover runs out. You find out when the motor dies and you’re already a month past it.
This is a tracking problem, not a Philips problem, and it grows with every gadget you own. The trimmer, the phone, the mixer-grinder, the router and the smartwatch each have their own invoice, serial number and expiry date, scattered across inboxes and drawers. Nobody’s memory holds all of that, least of all which ones you remembered to register.
That is the gap Product7 is built to close. It’s a warranty and product tracker. You log each product once with its purchase date, invoice and warranty period, and it keeps the proof of purchase attached to the product and tells you when cover is about to end. So when the trimmer starts dragging in month twenty, you already know it’s still in warranty, and the invoice is one tap away instead of buried in your inbox. The claim above (find the invoice, confirm the term, reach Philips) becomes a two-minute job instead of a hunt. The same habit works for the pTron warranty guide, the boAt warranty guide and every other brand you own. That’s the whole idea behind a warranty tracker app.
The short version
- Philips trimmers and shavers carry 24 months of warranty from the purchase date in India. Some models qualify for a free extension if you register within 90 days in My Philips.
- To check it, don’t look for a serial lookup on Philips’ support pages. Read the invoice date and add 24 months, or the term in your registration confirmation email.
- To claim, keep the invoice and warranty card, contact Philips through the Personal care option on its support contact page or visit an authorised service centre from its locator, and let Philips repair or exchange the unit.
- Blades, heads and accessories aren’t covered. Claims also fail on drops, water damage, an altered serial, unauthorised repair, refurbished or imported stock, or a missing invoice. A repair or replacement doesn’t restart the clock.
- The one habit that makes all of this painless is keeping every invoice, serial number and expiry date in one place, which is the whole point of a warranty tracker like Product7.
Register within 90 days. Keep the bill and the email. The rest is easy.
