How to register and claim your LG warranty in India (2026)

LG gives 1 year on TVs, fridges and ACs and 2 years on washing machines, plus up to 10 years on the compressor or motor, parts only. How to register and claim.

How to register and claim an LG warranty in India: terms by category and the four-step track A guide to the LG warranty in India. A table lists the product warranty and the longer cover on a key part by category: TV, 1 year, with promotional cards of up to 3 years on select models; refrigerator, 1 year, compressor 10 years; washing machine, 2 years, direct-drive motor 10 years; dishwasher, 2 years, direct-drive motor 10 years; inverter AC, 1 year, compressor 10 years; microwave, 1 year, charcoal heater 10 years. Beside it, a four-step track: step 1, register the product by signing in on lg.com/in, where it appears on MyLG; step 2, keep the invoice as proof of purchase with the serial number; step 3, raise a repair request online, on WhatsApp or by phone; step 4, an authorised LG engineer repairs it. A red callout lists what voids the warranty: voltage damage, bad installation, unauthorised repair and an altered serial label. A closing strip notes that a 10-year part warranty needs a 10-year-old invoice, and that the long compressor and motor cover is parts only, so labour and gas are paid by the customer. An LG refrigerator, washing machine, AC or TV is a purchase you expect to last most of a decade. The best time to sort out its warranty is the week the box arrives, not years later when something stops working. LG’s warranty is more layered than a gadget warranty: a short warranty on the whole product, a much longer one on one or two key parts, and fine print that decides who pays the engineer. This is the working guide.

The single most important fact up front: LG’s warranty is 1 year on most products and 2 years on washing machines and dishwashers. The 10-year cover on compressors and motors is for the part only, and every year of it depends on the invoice you kept.

How to register your LG product for warranty

Registration is online and takes a few minutes.

  1. Sign in. Go to lg.com/in → Support → Product Registration. LG asks you to sign in first, so create an LG account if you don’t have one.
  2. Enter the model. Type your model number. If it’s a ThinQ-connected product, you can select it automatically.
  3. Fill in the details the form asks for, and submit. The product then appears on your MyLG page.

LG’s stated reason to register is to “verify ownership to get efficient warranty service”, plus maintenance tips, updates and offers. But registration is not a warranty status checker, and it doesn’t replace the bill. LG India’s warranty page doesn’t offer a public serial-number lookup. What it does make a condition of in-warranty service is proof of purchase, meaning the invoice or receipt, with the model or serial number. The warranty also covers the first purchaser only and can’t be transferred, so a second-hand LG fridge doesn’t inherit the seller’s cover.

Where to find the model and serial number. LG’s help pages put the label on the back of a TV (on either the back left or the back right), on a side wall inside a refrigerator, and on the panel around the door opening of a front-load washing machine. On an LG TV you can also bring it up on screen: LG’s help pages say pressing MUTE three times on the remote shows the model information on 2018 and newer sets. Photograph the label on installation day, while it’s still easy to reach.

LG warranty period by product category

This is what LG India’s warranty page lists for the products most people are asking about:

ProductProduct warrantyLonger cover on a key part
TV (LED/LCD)1 year—
Refrigerator (direct cool, frost free)1 yearCompressor: 10 years (selected models)
Washing machine (front or top load)2 yearsDirect-drive motor: 10 years
Washing machine (semi-automatic)2 yearsWash motor: 5 years
Inverter AC1 yearCompressor: 10 years
Split or window AC (non-inverter)1 yearCompressor: 5 years
Microwave oven1 yearCharcoal heater: 10 years
Dishwasher2 yearsDirect-drive motor: 10 years
Water purifier1 year—

Three honest caveats sit behind that table.

First, the long part warranty is for the part only. LG’s terms say the special or extended warranty on a compressor or motor “does not include labor, only parts”. The extra years don’t cover other parts like the PCB or the condenser. On gas, the purchase date matters: LG’s service-charge terms say that for an AC or fridge bought from 1 August 2024 you pay for both the gas and the labour on a compressor failure, and for one bought up to 31 July 2024, only the labour. So a compressor failure in year six is a free compressor, but you still pay for the engineer’s labour and service charges, and on a newer AC or fridge, the gas as well.

Second, the 2-year washing machine warranty has exclusions too. It covers all parts except the lint filter, knobs, inlet and outlet hoses, and top covers. The 5-year wash motor term on semi-automatic machines applies to models manufactured from January 2020.

Third, the compressor cover depends on the model and the purchase date. LG’s fine print for purchases from 1 August 2024 describes the extra nine years after the first year as applying to inverter ACs and selected refrigerator models. For an AC or fridge bought before 31 July 2024, the extra compressor term is four or nine years, depending on the model. Read your own warranty card, not a blog, and that includes this one.

The TV warranty trap: where you bought it changes the term

LG’s table lists one year for a TV, and LG’s own buying guide describes the standard TV warranty in India as one to two years, but LG also runs frequent promotional extended warranty cards. At the time of writing, LG’s published card for TVs bought between 1 October and 15 November 2026 gives a total of 3 years on selected OLED, QNED, NanoCell, UHD and other models, but only when bought from authorised offline retailers or LG’s own online store. On Amazon and Flipkart, that card says only selected OLED models get the 3-year cover, and every other LG TV bought there gets the standard 1-year warranty.

Read the card closely, because the extra two years are narrower than the first:

  • They cover functional parts only, and service or visit charges apply when the engineer comes.
  • Panel breakage and image retention are not covered, and neither are the stand, the cabinet, cables or network problems.
  • To claim, you need the original dealer invoice and the extended warranty card itself.
  • Dead or bright pixels count as a defect only above LG’s threshold: more than 4 pixels on an LED TV, more than 12 on an OLED.

So before you pay for a TV, ask which warranty card comes with that exact model from that exact seller. And then keep the card with the invoice.

How to raise an LG service request, step by step

The claim is a repair request. You don’t need to visit a service centre to start it.

  1. Get the invoice and the model and serial number ready. No invoice, no in-warranty service.
  2. Raise the request. Use the Repair Request page at lg.com/in → Support. You can request with or without signing in. Pick the product, describe the symptom, and add your contact details. Be specific: “fridge not cooling, compressor runs constantly” beats “not working”.
  3. Or use another channel. WhatsApp 9711709999, which LG lists as 24/7 except national holidays. Live chat is 24/7 too. You can also email [email protected] or call 08069379999 from 9 am to 6 pm, seven days a week except national holidays. LG’s TV warranty card also lists toll-free numbers 1800 180 9999 and 1800 315 9999. A video consultation can also be booked if you want the fault looked at over a call first.
  4. Let the authorised engineer diagnose it. LG offers in-home service and carry-in service at a service centre, depending on the product. Show the invoice. If your home is outside the municipal limits of LG’s authorised service centre, on-site warranty doesn’t apply and the travel or transport cost is yours.
  5. Track it to repair. LG says you can check the request status online. A replaced part stays under warranty only for whatever was left of the original term; it doesn’t restart.

One timing rule catches people at delivery: report transit damage within 15 days. LG’s terms exclude dents, scratches and chips from transport and handling unless they come from a defect and are reported within 15 days of purchase. Unbox and inspect the day it arrives, not the week after.

Extended warranty: LG Best Care

To extend cover beyond the standard warranty, LG sells LG Best Care, an AMC that it describes as a warranty extension. It’s sold for ACs, washing machines, refrigerators, microwaves, TVs, audio and video, dishwashers, stylers, air purifiers and water purifiers. LG lists four tiers, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze, with prices for one to four years, though not every term is offered on every product. Silver and Bronze are currently not sold on lg.com/in. The plans differ in what they include, such as labour, parts, gas, transport and, on some Platinum plans, a preventive maintenance visit or panel-damage cover. LG says the price depends on the product type, the plan and the number of years, so check the exact plan for your model before you pay.

Don’t confuse it with Bright Care. That is LG’s separate paid cleaning service for out-of-warranty ACs, washing machines and refrigerators. It covers cleaning only, not repairs.

Common reasons LG warranty claims fail

Most rejected claims hit an exclusion LG spells out in its warranty terms. The big ones:

  • No proof of purchase. In-warranty service needs the invoice or receipt with the model or serial number. Lose it, and a valid fault becomes a paid repair.
  • Voltage fluctuation. Failures from voltage beyond the specified tolerance aren’t covered. If your supply is unstable, use a stabiliser.
  • Improper installation. Damage from improper installation is excluded, which matters most for ACs. LG’s AC terms also expect regular maintenance at least every three months.
  • Unauthorised repair or non-LG parts. Repair by anyone other than authorised service personnel, or parts not approved by LG, voids cover.
  • A removed or altered serial label. Tampering with the identification labels ends the warranty.
  • Fire, liquid spillage and natural disasters. Earthquake, cyclone, flood and lightning damage are excluded.
  • Consumables and commercial use. Expendable parts like batteries and filters are charged once their warranty or lifespan ends, a water purifier’s internal filters aren’t covered, and neither is damage from commercial, business or industrial use.
  • Terms a shop promises you. LG’s terms say no dealer, distributor or retailer can vary the warranty, so don’t rely on a longer cover promised at the counter unless LG’s own warranty card or terms show it.

The pattern is the same as every warranty: it protects you against the factory getting it wrong, not against the wiring, the installer or the monsoon. Get an LG-authorised installation, keep the serial label intact, and keep the invoice.

The real problem: a 10-year warranty needs a 10-year-old invoice

LG’s long compressor and motor warranties are generous on paper. But they quietly ask something hard of you: that in 2034 you can still produce the invoice for a fridge you bought in 2026, and remember which part is covered for how long.

Most households can’t. The invoice is a thermal-paper bill that can fade to blank, a PDF in a retailer’s app you no longer use, or a file in the inbox of whoever placed the order. One LG product also runs several clocks at once: the 1- or 2-year product warranty, the 5- or 10-year part warranty, maybe a TV extended-warranty card, maybe a Best Care AMC. Nothing reminds you when any of them ends, and LG’s product registration page doesn’t list expiry reminders among the benefits of registering.

That is the gap Product7 is built to close. It’s a warranty and product tracker: you add each product once by scanning the invoice or entering the model and purchase date. It keeps the receipt, serial number and AMC and service contacts together, and it reminds you before a warranty, AMC or service window runs out. When the fridge stops cooling in year seven, the purchase date that shows the compressor is still covered, and the invoice that proves it, are one tap away. It’s the habit we recommend for gadgets in the Noise warranty guide and the boAt warranty guide, and compare in our warranty tracker app rundown, and it matters more for an appliance meant to last ten years.

The short version

  • LG’s standard warranty is 1 year on TVs, fridges, ACs and microwaves and 2 years on washing machines and dishwashers. Compressors and motors get 5 to 10 years, but that cover is parts only: labour and service charges are yours, and so is gas charging on an AC or fridge bought from 1 August 2024.
  • To register, sign in on lg.com/in → Support → Product Registration and enter the model. The product shows on MyLG. It helps, but it doesn’t replace the invoice.
  • To claim, raise a repair request online, on WhatsApp at 9711709999, or by calling 08069379999, and show the invoice to the authorised engineer.
  • For a TV, check which warranty card comes with your model and seller. On Amazon and Flipkart, the current 3-year card covers only selected OLED models.
  • Claims fail on voltage damage, bad installation, unauthorised repair, a tampered serial label, liquid or fire, unreported transit damage, and a missing invoice.
  • Keep every invoice and expiry in one place, which is the whole point of a warranty tracker like Product7.

Keep the bill for as long as the longest warranty runs, and photograph the label.
