How to check and claim your Voltas AC warranty in India (2026)
Voltas covers the whole AC for 1 year, then only the compressor: 5 years in total (fixed speed) or 10 (inverter). How to register, check and claim in India.
Product7 — Track products you own. Claim warranties in one click.
If you own a Voltas AC, the warranty question usually turns up in the first hot week of the year: the AC is blowing warm air, the outdoor unit hums but nothing cools, or a technician has just said the word “gas”. The honest answer has more parts than a gadget warranty, because an AC runs two warranty clocks at once, and the trouble starts when the shorter one runs out. This is the working guide.
The single most important fact up front: under its standard terms, Voltas covers the whole AC for one year. After that, the long warranty (5 or 10 years) covers the compressor only, and you pay for the gas, the labour and the transport. A promotional warranty, covered below, can add more.
How to check your Voltas AC warranty status
We found no public page on voltas.com or voltasservice.com where you type in a serial number and see how much cover is left. The Selfcare portal at voltasservice.com asks you to log in with your mobile number before it takes any request. So the reliable check is still the one you can do at home:
- Find the invoice (voltas.com, Amazon or Flipkart order, or the dealer’s bill) and the warranty card from the box.
- Read the purchase date, and note the installation date too.
- Check whether the AC is inverter or fixed speed. The model name and the invoice usually say so, and it decides the compressor term.
- Check whether the invoice or warranty card mentions a promotional warranty (more on the 2026 one below).
For sales on its own platforms, Voltas’s terms of use say the warranty on the product page applies or, failing that, the warranty supplied with the product. Either way, the warranty card and invoice are the source of truth for your unit, not a blog or a helpline agent’s memory.
Voltas AC warranty period: the unit vs the compressor
Voltas’s product warranty page sets out the standard structure for its air conditioners, and the Voltas warranty text on retailer listings fills in the first year:
- Year 1: the whole AC. This is the standard one-year warranty on the product, and that listing text limits it to manufacturing defects.
- Fixed-speed AC: compressor covered for 4 more years (48 months), so 5 years in total.
- Inverter AC: compressor covered for 9 more years (108 months), so 10 years in total.
The catch is in the wording. During that additional compressor warranty, the page says you are entitled only to free repair or replacement of the compressor, and the cost of gas, labour, transportation and any other parts is borne by you. Outside any promotional warranty, a failed compressor in year four is covered. The refrigerant, the technician’s time and a new PCB are not.
Three more lines from the same page are worth knowing. Promotions don’t stack on the compressor: cover is capped at the standard year plus the additional 4 or 9 years, whatever other scheme you have. The old “lifetime warranty on inverter compressor” (on purchases up to 30 June 2023) defines “lifetime” as 10 years, citing the average AC life under the E-Waste Management rules. And cleaning a unit clogged with dust is not treated as a defect, so a choked filter is a service call, not a warranty claim.
The 2026–27 five-year promo, and its conditions
Many ACs sold this year come with more than the standard year. Most AC listings on voltas.com currently say “Standard Installation is FREE with 5 year comprehensive warranty”, and the warranty section of a Flipkart listing for a 2026 Voltas model spells out the promo terms in more detail. As written there:
- It applies to Voltas split and window ACs, inverter or fixed speed, of 0.6 to 2 tons, bought between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2027.
- It extends cover to 60 months in total and covers repair or replacement of key components, including the PCB, the indoor evaporator coil and the outdoor condenser.
- It is for residential use only, and the terms say it is valid only for ACs bought through the Voltas website or authorised offline retail.
- To keep it, you need two preventive maintenance services (PMS) every 12 months, at the applicable PMS charges.
- It excludes all air filters, all plastic and metal parts, the remote and gas charging. Gas linked to the compressor or coils is paid by you, though the visit charge is deducted from the gas bill.
- It doesn’t apply to installations in areas prone to corrosion. You’re told at installation, and in that case no promo warranty registration letter is issued.
Two honest caveats. The same listing dates the five years from installation in one line and from the invoice in another, so keep both dates (it also gives the size limit as 2.2 tons in one line and 2 tons in another). And since the terms name the Voltas website and authorised offline retail, if you bought on a marketplace, confirm with Voltas that the promo applies to your unit. If you got a promo registration letter, file it with the invoice.
The maintenance condition is the one that quietly lapses: two paid services every 12 months is as many as ten visits over five years, and the extended cover depends on them.
How to register and claim your Voltas AC warranty, step by step
Everything runs through the Selfcare portal at voltasservice.com, or through Voltas’s WhatsApp and phone lines. The portal’s forms are in English; its login screen lets you read the consent notice in nine Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam (Kannada is not among them).
- Find your invoice, warranty card and serial numbers. A split AC is an indoor unit plus an outdoor unit, and the portal asks for one serial number, then the serial of the other unit. Photograph both labels and the invoice.
- Get it installed through Voltas within 45 days. Call or WhatsApp 9650694555, or use Demo/Installation on the portal. Voltas’s installation page says room-AC installation is offered up to 45 days from the date of purchase, and asks you to arrange an MCB-controlled power point near the unit. For Amazon or Flipkart orders, the page points you to 9650694555 in one line and to the marketplace’s own customer care in another, so try both.
- Register the product. Open Register Your Product, enter the serial number, upload the serial-label and invoice photos, add the model details, purchase date and where you bought it, then log in with your mobile number (with an OTP if your profile has no password). Voltas confirms with an SR number by SMS.
- Work out which warranty you’re in. Year 1 covers the whole AC. After that it’s the compressor only (5 years in total on fixed speed, 10 on inverter), unless a promotional warranty on your invoice or card says otherwise.
- Raise a service request. Open Service Request, enter the serial, upload the photos, describe the issue and pick an appointment date and time. Or use WhatsApp or phone on 9650694555, call 1860 599 4555, or email [email protected].
- Track it to a repair. Quote the SR number on every follow-up. If anything is chargeable, such as gas in the compressor-only years, ask for the amount before work starts.
What about an app? Voltas’s apps, Voltas Smart and Voltas Intelligence, control Wi-Fi and AI-enabled ACs, and their App Store listings don’t describe a service-request feature. For warranty work, use the Selfcare portal in a phone browser, or WhatsApp.
If a genuine in-warranty claim goes nowhere, the government’s National Consumer Helpline takes complaints on 1915 or on WhatsApp at +91 88000 01915. Keep your SR numbers and the invoice ready when you file.
Installation rules that quietly affect your warranty
With an AC, the installation itself can start the warranty dispute. Voltas’s installation page lists what standard installation includes: mounting the indoor unit, a wall hole up to 10 inches through brick, placing the outdoor unit, connecting the copper and drain pipes, and wiring and commissioning. Extras are charged, for example an outdoor-unit stand at Rs 750 + GST or extra copper pipe at Rs 1,050 a metre + GST, including gas charging.
Three lines on that page matter for the warranty itself:
- Your own copper pipe is your risk. If you supply copper pipe and it leaks, Voltas says there will be no gas-leakage warranty.
- Old pipes aren’t recommended. Re-using existing refrigerant pipes needs paid nitrogen flushing and pressure testing, and Voltas advises against it.
- Power is your job. You have to arrange an MCB-controlled supply near the unit. The page also lists a stabiliser rating for each size: 3 kVA for 1 ton, 4 kVA for 1.5 ton and 5 kVA for 2 ton.
That last point links straight to the exclusions. Voltas’s terms of use say that using a product beyond its stated limits, such as voltage, may void the warranty. And the warranty terms on a Voltas listing on Flipkart exclude damage from abnormal voltage. Some Voltas inverter models are sold as working without a stabiliser across a wide voltage range, so check the range for your model. If your supply strays outside it, use a stabiliser.
Common reasons Voltas AC warranty claims fail
The warranty terms shown on a Voltas listing on Flipkart limit cover to manufacturing defects only, and list these exclusions:
- Abnormal voltage, lightning and acts of God. A PCB killed by a voltage spike is excluded, which is why voltage protection matters. Damage in transit to a service centre or to your home is excluded too.
- Modification or alteration. Any change to the AC’s electrical circuitry or physical construction is excluded, so having a local technician rewire or modify the unit can put it outside cover.
- Site conditions. If the place where the AC is installed doesn’t meet its recommended operating conditions, defects caused by that are out of cover. For the 2026 promo, corrosion-prone installations are excluded outright.
- Misuse and damage. Use against the instruction manual, improper use as judged by Voltas’s personnel, and damaged parts are not covered.
- Parts that were never covered. The air filter and front grille aren’t covered after installation, and neither are installation, demonstration or external accessories. The promo also excludes plastic and metal parts and the remote.
- Missed maintenance on the promo. If you can’t show two preventive maintenance services every 12 months, the extended five-year cover is the part you lose.
The pattern is simple: the warranty protects you against the factory getting it wrong, not against bad power, a bad install or a missed service. Install through Voltas, protect it from voltage swings, keep the unit unaltered, and keep proof of every service.
The real problem: an AC warranty is a ten-year paperwork job
A gadget warranty asks you to keep one invoice for one year. A Voltas inverter AC asks you to keep the invoice, the warranty card, the installation date, two serial numbers and, on the 2026 promo, the registration letter and proof of every service, for up to a decade. If the compressor fails in year seven, that’s the day you need a bill from seven summers ago.
Many households can’t produce it. The invoice was a PDF in an old inbox, the warranty card went out with the box, and nobody remembers whether this year’s second service happened. Nothing makes you notice when the first 12 months end either: the cover steps down to compressor-only, and you find out when the repair bill arrives.
This is a tracking problem, not a Voltas problem, and most homes have several of these appliances: the AC, the fridge, the washing machine, the water heater. Each has its own invoice, serial numbers, warranty term and service schedule.
That’s the gap Product7 is built to close. It’s a warranty tracker for everything you own, including home appliances and white goods. You save the receipt, serial numbers and service contacts once, and it reminds you when a warranty, an AMC or a service window is about to expire. So when the AC stops cooling, you already know whether you’re in the whole-AC year or the compressor-only years, and the model number, serial, purchase date and support contact are one tap away. It’s the same habit we recommend in the Noise warranty guide and the boAt warranty guide, and we go into it in our warranty tracker app rundown.
The short version
- Voltas’s standard AC warranty is one year on the whole unit, then compressor only: 5 years in total on fixed speed, 10 on inverter. In the extra years, gas, labour and transport are paid by you.
- Many ACs bought in 2026 and 2027 carry a promotional 5-year comprehensive warranty on key parts (PCB, coils). It needs two paid maintenance services every 12 months and excludes gas, filters, plastic and metal parts.
- Register at
voltasservice.com(serial number, invoice photo, mobile OTP), get it installed by Voltas within 45 days, and raise service requests there or on WhatsApp/phone 9650694555 or 1860 599 4555. - Claims fail on abnormal voltage, alteration of the unit, unsuitable sites, damage, and leaks in copper pipe you supplied yourself.
- The habit that makes all of this painless is keeping every invoice, serial number and service date in one place, which is the whole point of a warranty tracker like Product7.
Keep the bill, and keep the service slips too.
